Process & FAQ

Why is structural engineering needed?
In most cases, an engineer is the bridge between architectural design and the construction process.
This is is necessary avoiding permit and construction issues along the way, which can become timely and expensive.

Are you licensed?
I am a licensed professional engineer (PE) in the state of Washington and Oregon State.

Are your designs hand-drawn or do you design digitally?
Although I am proficient in both methods, I design digitally using Revit and AutoCAD.

Are you able to come on site and see my project?
Yes.  I offer site visits, which typically are one hour long and include an emailed written report, with your structural solutions, 5-7 business days following the visit.
If a faster turnaround is needed for your project for construction or permit reasons, I can make accommodations.
(To book a site visit, payment must be made in full, electronically, prior to the visit.)

How do I pay for your services?
After your initial inquiry, you are first emailed a proposal, then an emailed invoice and contract.
Payments can be made digitally through the link in the emailed invoice using Stripe payment service.
I also accept check or cash, depending on the project.
Site visits are paid in full prior to appointment.
All larger design projects require a 50% retainer fee to begin the design process. The remainder is paid at completion.

How do you deliver designs?
All design documents are delivered digitally. You will be first sent preliminary documents to look over.
You will receive your official stamped documents once the invoice is paid in full.
If paper documents are needed, just let me know and I can professionally print them at my printers shop for an additional fee.
